Our Story
WHY COFFEE? Everyone asks.
It all started when I was a kid, my mother didn’t buy juice, soda or even cow’s milk— only coffee. Coffee was a household staple and the house always smelled of a freshly brewed pot. She drank hers black no sugar so naturally, once I started drinking coffee, that too is how I took mine. I grew up in a small desert town just over an hour outside Moab, Utah. My mother’s side of the family lived in the same neighborhood & everyone was always in and out next door at my grandparents— especially for coffee in the mornings.
Having always been on the road as a kid, my mother never sat still very well— with 3 cross country trips & moving to Connecticut twice before I was 10. We never took vacations that required us to travel by plane or plan months in advance, it was always spontaneous drives in the car. We would just pack a bag, get in the car and drive. Anytime we were out on a drive, we would stop at antique + thrift stores where my sister always had a love for the decades before us – fashion, furniture and glassware. Naturally, over the years this grew on me and now, I am always on the lookout for vintage glassware + cute coffee cups. Ironically my personality now is getting coffee, taking road trips + stopping at thrift stores. But first, coffee (in a cute glass).
With all the travels, I started @kendradrinkskoffee to document all the fun cups and adventures along the way. I had once wanted to pursue a career in design + art and have always been drawn to the arts world. A few years later, one thing has led to another & here we are today, the koffee kollective, a kollection of all things koffee- apparel, tote bags, accessories and of course, glassware.
So here’s to my mother for never having anything but coffee in the house, my sister for thinking she was in the wrong era + of course, my grandparents- Beverly & James, for always having a mug full for all of us every morning. xoxo
